안녕하세요 티스토리 여러분들 오늘은2018년 부터 주목받고 있는 루키 래퍼 Lil Skies(릴 스카이스) 대해서 소개해드리겠습니다. 그의 본명은 Kimetrius Christopher Foose(키미트리우스 크리스토퍼 푸스)입니다. 그는 1998년 8월 4일생으로 올해 23살을 맞이하였습니다. 릴스카이스는 펜실베이니아 주 챔버스버그서 다인종 부모 사이에서 태어났는데요. 그의 아버지 마이클 버튼은 Dark Skies 라는 예명을 가진 힙합 아티스트였습니다. 그는 그러한 아버지의 영향을 받아 4살 무렵 때부터 곡을 작곡할 정도의 재능을 가지고 있었다고 합니다. 

 

 

 

 

 

이후 그는 2016년 고등학교를 졸업하고 펜실베이니아의 쉐펜스버그 대학에 진학하였으나, 랩을 위해 대학교를 중퇴하게 됩니다. 그리고 믹스테이프를 내기 시작하면서 본격적으로 래퍼의 길을 걷기 시작합니다.

 

 

 

 

 

사진에서도 보면 알 수 있지만, 얼굴 문신이 매우 많습니다. 참고로 눈 밑에 대문짝만하게 써 놓은 한자는 ‘냉정한 마음’이라는 뜻이라고 합니다. 2017년 1월, 릴 스카이스는 그의 첫 번째 믹스테이프 "Alone"을 발표합니다. 머지않아 같은 해 7월, 그는 Landon Cube와 Sprite Lee가 피처링한 "Off The Goop"와 "Red Roses"를 발표하는데요. 그리고 얼마 후 "Rude" and "Signs of Jealousy" 두 곡을 또 다시 발표하면서, 한 레이블에 눈의 뜨게 됩니다. 그 레이블은 바로 Atlantic Records(애틀랜틱 레코드) 였습니다. Atlantic Records는 Bazzi 브루노 마스 등이 속해있는 거대 레이블입니다. 릴 스카이스의 레이블 "All We Got"과 파트너 관계를 맺게 되며 대형 레이블에 입문하게 됩니다.
2018년 1월 10일, 릴 스카이스는 첫 레이블 믹스 테이프 "Life of a Dark Rose"를 발표하였고,, 이 앨범은 빌보드 200 차트 중 최고성적 23위를 찍게 되면서 그는 순식간에 루키로 주목 받습니다. 수록곡 "Nowadays"와 "Red Roses"는 빌보드 Hot 100 차트에서 최고치로 각각 55위와 69위, 결과적으로는 85위와 98위에 안착하게 되고 매우 성공적으로 데뷔를 마치게 됩니다.
